The World at War
America has now entered the war and has decided that first it will deal with Germany before turning its full might onto the Japanese. In this part we will see some of the early and disastrous encounters between European soldiers and the Japanese, the Fall of Singapore, The Bataan Death March etc then we will look at three important battles that started to turn the war in the allies favour; El Alamein, Stalingrad and Guadalcanal. We will look at the horrific allied bombing of Hamburg, the fall of Mussolini and the allied invasion of Italy.
After this we will move on to part five and that will take us through to D-Day, the Battle for Berlin, the German surrender, the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki resulting in the Japanese surrender. But before that you have a worksheet to complete.
